Skippack Township is recognizing National Work Zone Awareness Week, an annual campaign that highlights the importance of safety in roadway work zones and encourages drivers to take extra precautions.
Each year, hundreds of roadway workers across the country are injured or killed while performing essential duties to maintain and improve transportation infrastructure. These individuals include public works employees, contractors, and utility crews who work in close proximity to moving traffic.
Here in Skippack Township, Public Works employees and contracted crews are actively working throughout the community, particularly as the spring construction season gets underway. Their efforts support critical road maintenance, infrastructure improvements, and overall community safety.
Township officials are urging all motorists to remain vigilant when traveling through work zones by following a few key safety practices:
- Slow down and adjust speed to posted limits
- Stay alert and minimize distractions
- Obey all traffic signs, signals, and flaggers
“Work zone safety is a shared responsibility,” the Township emphasizes. “By driving carefully and attentively, residents and visitors can help protect the workers who are dedicated to improving our community.”
Residents are encouraged to take an active role in promoting safety by respecting work zones and recognizing the risks faced by workers on the road each day.
