Effective: Saturday, February 22 at 6:00 AM
Skippack Township has declared a Snow Emergency beginning tomorrow morning, Sunday, February 22 at 6:00 AM.
Our Public Works crews will battle the storm using trucks, plows, and heavy equipment. This winter storm is anticipated to produce approximately 10 to12 inches (or more) of snow. Residents should be prepared for potential power outages and utility disruptions, and extremely cold temperatures will remain even after the snow stops.
🚨 What a Snow Emergency Means for Residents
-
No parking is permitted on designated Snow Emergency Routes and cul-de-sacs.
-
Vehicles traveling on Snow Emergency Routes must be equipped with snow tires or chains.
-
The list of Snow Emergency Routes can be found HERE.
-
Please move all vehicles off the street to allow snowplows and emergency vehicles safe access.
-
No person shall deposit snow onto any street.
-
Families must remove basketball nets from streets and curb lines immediately. It is extremely important that nets are cleared away so plow trucks do not become entangled. The community’s cooperation helps us better clear the roadways for everyone.
❄️ Travel & Plowing Information
-
Road conditions will be dangerous due to a mix of rain and snow. Please stay off the roads and limit travel.
-
Major roads will be plowed first. Please be patient as crews work their way into neighborhoods and developments.
⚠️ Safety Reminders
-
In case of an emergency, call 911.
-
Do not call 911 to report power outages unless there is a life-threatening emergency.
-
Report power outages to PECO at 800-841-4141.
-
Do not drive over downed power lines — they may still be energized.
-
Do not run generators or gas grills indoors. They produce carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless gas that can be fatal.
-
Do not use ovens or stoves to heat your home.
-
Keep exhaust vents for natural gas appliances (water heaters, furnaces, fireplaces) clear of snow and ice to prevent carbon monoxide buildup.
Please check on elderly neighbors and friends during and after the storm, as they may need additional assistance.
Your cooperation in advance is greatly appreciated. Every resident’s effort helps protect our entire community and allows crews to clear roads safely and efficiently.
Stay safe and stay warm, Skippack Township.
