Today, Monday, December 1st at 2:00 PM, Constellation will conduct its semi-annual, full-volume test of the emergency warning sirens surrounding the Limerick Clean Energy Center (formerly known as the Limerick Generating Station). This test is part of Constellation’s regular safety program and is one of two scheduled siren tests performed each year.
Residents may hear the sirens sounding at full volume, but there is no emergency and no cause for concern. The test helps ensure that the system remains in proper working order and is ready to alert the community if it is ever needed.
The emergency warning system includes sirens located within a 10-mile radius of the Limerick Clean Energy Center, covering portions of Montgomery, Chester, and Berks Counties, including Skippack Township.
It is important to remember that in an actual emergency, the sounding of these sirens is not a signal to evacuate. Instead, the sirens are intended to alert residents to tune in to a local Emergency Alert System (EAS) television or radio station for official information and instructions.
Skippack Township appreciates the community’s understanding during this routine test and encourages residents to review their household emergency plans.
