Out of an abundance of caution and following the concerns expressed by Skippack's first responders, local officials have made the difficult decision to cancel the annual Fourth of July Parade. The decision reflects a shared commitment to protecting the safety of residents, visitors, and parade participants.
While this is a disappointing outcome - especially as our nation celebrates its 250th birthday - it is the responsible course of action based on the information available and our obligation to public safety.
In addition, Skippack Events/MDI, the hosting organization, has canceled the Fourth of July Fireworks display due to many of the same public safety concerns and weather forecast.
The option to reschedule the event for a later date was proposed; however, the host organization has not made a commitment at this time.
