Skippack Township residents and motorists are advised that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has reopened the Evansburg Road bridge over Shady Brook Run to traffic following the completion of repair work.

Evansburg Road had been closed since Wednesday, April 8, between Hidden Forest Drive and Ivy Lane after severe bridge scour was identified during a routine inspection.

The bridge reopened to motorists this morning after PennDOT completed the necessary repairs to restore safe travel through the area.

The single-span arch deck bridge was originally built in 1930 and reconstructed in 1971. The structure measures approximately 15 feet long and 21.5 feet wide and carries an average of 3,247 vehicles per day.

Motorists can check current traffic conditions and roadway information through 511PA. The free service is available 24 hours a day and provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,200 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available via smartphone app for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or through regional X alerts.

Information about PennDOT’s planned and active construction projects is available at PennDOT Projects.
